SUCCESS STORY SPOTLIGHT
From Apprentice to Deputy: Richard “Cody” Sanders’ Journey

Richard “Cody” Sanders is a proud participant of our Apprenticeship Program through the WIOA initiative, in collaboration with the Menifee County Sheriff’s Department. His path to service began with the Law Enforcement Basic Training Program at the Department of Criminal Justice Training Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
This rigorous program requires graduates to complete more than 800 hours of intensive training, equipping them with the skills needed to protect and strengthen the safety of the Commonwealth’s citizens. Cody’s dedication and determination quickly stood out—he was honored as a class leader, recognized for his ability to serve as a positive role model and for demonstrating responsibility, reliability, motivation, communication skills, and integrity.
During his commencement speech, Cody humbly shared that “the academy participants didn’t need me, I needed them,” a powerful statement that reflects his genuine commitment to leadership, personal growth, and teamwork.
Today, Cody proudly serves as a full-time deputy with the Menifee County Sheriff’s Department, turning his training and passion for service into a meaningful career. His journey is a true testament to the impact of workforce development partnerships and the strength of community collaboration.
